Just bought a '94 Accord EX
Update 11-27-2012
So today after the snow storm, I went out and took off the EGR plate. When I took the cover off the ports were really really clogged! I cleaned everything up really good and put it all back together. I started the car, the car idled awesome and then went for a test drive. The weird stuttering issue at 1400-2100 rpm is GONE! The car idles, throttles, and pulls at all rpm's awesomely!
Later tonight I will upload the pix of the clogged EGR ports for everyone to see. I hope this find helps others out when they are having a similar issue. Pretty excited that I have a completely functioning '94 Accord EX. Big success here in PA

Last week I cleaned the EGR valve itself, but never took the egr port plate off. I guess you live and learn. I learned the hard way!
A bit back in this you asked about the shield around the shift cables. See if this thread:

Might shed some light on that part. I know the title talks about the oil pan but in the "how to" it describes/talks about that cover....also has pics
which I always like.
Glad the port cleaning seems to have helped.
I was personally going crazy with my 89 LXi a while back. I was getting a 6 - ECT, a 12 EGR and a 14 IACV each at different times. About every two days one of those would pop. I'd clear the code. Would then test, clean, measure, ect everything in the system related to the code....nothing/everything would test out fine. Then ~2 days later another one or one of the same would come back.
I was thinking something in the ECU was going bad. Finally one weekend I took the advise I've given a hundred times. Cleaned the ground cable where it contacts the body....guess what, haven't had a single code show up since. Just to be sure I cleaned the end where it connects to the trans but I'm convinced it was the contact where it meets the body....again since that day I cleaned it no code has come back.....just a story of my personal experience.

Sweet! Thanks poorman. The problem is I have the shifter cable installed first. In reality I need to put the tranny cover on first then slide the shifter cover on. Gotta love forums! You guys are all awesome in my book! Are you still rocking the 89 LXI? PIC??
So now that the engine is running at 100% and I've worked all the bugs out of her, I am curious as to what kind of ATF fluid I should be using in my transmission. The transmission has 180,000 miles on her so she's getting up there in age. Right now I have Castrol general transmission fluid which says it's for use in Honda's and Toyota's. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks!

The 89 LXi is the second 3rd gen to the right.....so to the right from the garage...88 LXi Auto, 89 LXi manual, 89 LX auto...to the left is the 95 EX auto,,,,,,,,the wife was not at home with the 07 Pilot. The Chevelle is in front of the 95 inside the garage.
