Sweet pic! LIke I said before my German lust is dying and my Japanese lust is strengthening!

Quick question. My ABS light is on, but not when I start the car. It's not until I put the car into drive until the ABS light kicks on. Right before the ABS light kicks on, I hear a relay type of click coming from the passenger side, around the glove box area... What ABS component is in that area?

Pretty sure the ABS light should "bulb check" when the key is turned to on - just like the CEL, D4 and SRS.....does it?

Then you can jump the service connector and get the codes, watch the flashes from the ABS light.....I'll guess a wheel speed sensor....but it could be a pump over run code. I'm guessing one of the wheel sensors since it doesn't "trip a code" until you are moving over 5 mph.

And yes, for some reason the ABS unit/computer makes a loud click when it sets a code?.....the sound you hear on the pass side.

EDIT: As for the trans...again me personally, I'd ONLY use Honda trans fluid in this car. Yes it costs a bit more than "regular/multi veh/universal" fluid but it has done me proud (over 380K on the 95 with the original trans). Carquest sells it for $7.99 a quart. Many dealers will cut you a "break" on a case....maybe $5.50 or $6.

Off topic....this time of year I HATE all of my trees they make a dang mess on the ground.....but when they have their leaves I really like the privacy So I guess I just have to deal with the bad this time of year.

Thanks poorman. I will look into the codes tomorrow. Hoping it's as simple as a the sensor. I know in my VW the pump/module commonly fail. I am hoping Japan does a better job.

Again.....since the code/light does not trip until the car is moving.....my "guess" is a wheel sensor. If it was something with the pump then you would get a code at start up (or a few sec after but before the car moves).

Please let us know what you find.

I will definitely follow up. If it is in face the wheel sensor, how easy/hard is it to do? In my 98 VW, it's simple UNTIL the bolt strips. VW put them in using hex bolts. After a few years of salt and elements the metal becomes soft. I've broken 2 on my VW trying to replace them out in the last few years.

If it gives you a wheel sensor code, it is prob almost the same drill as the VW....check the resistance of it....be sure it is clean where it "reads the tone ring". Then if bad replace and yes a few little bolts and a few wire clips.

So I am running 10w40 in my Accord right now but from what i've been reading, 5w30 is what the norm is. Is it crucial I drain out this 10w40 and put in 5w30?

Probly not crucial. What part of the country do you live in? How cold is it getting? I'd say change it before temperatures get below 20.F or something like that.

I live in Pennsylvania, about an hour directly west of NYC. It will get pretty cold soon, definitely below 20 F.

So you don't have to panic & dump it immediately. I guess I wouldn't keep that oil through winter, but find a convenient time to change it within a few weeks.
