Default Leak on engine side of exhaust near cat converter

Hello
I still have that old 92 Accord. It has a buzzing sound coming from the exhaust and I smoke-tested it via plugging the exhaust. It seems to be from the engine side near the joint with the cat converter. Should I yank all of the exhaust, cat converter and all, and replace it myself? Or is it a job for the muffler shop?
BTW I hear there are two O2 sensors on the exhaust system that, when disconnected and reconnected, give a check-engine light and mess up your gas mileage. Is that true?
Thanks
KT

Your 92 accord only has one O2 sensor. It is either on the exhaust manifold or on the pipe right before the catalytic converter. The 96+ accords had two O2 sensors for OBD2.

If the leak is coming from a gasket, then have the gasket replaced. The exhaust bolts may be very rusty, so take a look before attempting to take apart. You can always get a quote from a shop to see what they would charge to install.

Your car is OBD-I, so you only have one O2 sensor.

Regarding the exhaust, you can DIY or go to a muffler shop. If you DIY, sometimes the bolts can very tough to get loose and bolt heads may break off.
