Higher octane fuel is LESS flammable than lower octane so if you don't have a high compression motor (as mentioned above) it will make no difference....
Actually the higher octane will produce less power since the burn time is longer ..... more unburnt gas will leave the engine to complete combustion on your catalytic converter. This may shorten the life of the cat.

Simple answer: Use the 87 octane for the most power and spare change.
