losing power
Hello, I'm new to the forum. I bought my son a 1998 Honda accord coupe. It has a 3.0 ltr V tech. When driving the car when its really hot outside, the car shuts off and seems to lose power. A friend of mine is a mechanic, and he said to change the cold, so I did, and it still shuts down while driving. Please help.

Check for trouble codes by having scan performed at Autozone or other parts shop.
It could be a lot of things. Suggest performing following checks:
1) When you turn keyswitch to On, does the Check Engine Light (CEL) and Alt lights come on, and do you hear the fuel pump run for 2-3 secs, then cut off? CEL should go off w/ fuel pump.
2) When engine stops, notice whether CEL and Alt lights come on or stay off.
Report what you find and someone can help.
