Default Motor mounts

New Member
I have a 1989 sedan. I've replaced all the motor mounts except the lower mount below the dogbone mount.Isn't this the lower left hand side motor mount or is it called something relating to the firewall.

My real question is about centering the motor. The repair manual said after you replace all motor mounts to lower the car, and tighten all the motor mounts AFTER YOU'VE CENTERED the motor in the compartment.
How do I properly center the engine and how will I know when it's centered.

start the engine, hold the brakes. shift to drive, neutral, reverse, neutral - and repeat a few times. finish off in neutral and tighten em up.

the mount below the dog-bone is the rear motor mount..it sits on the rear cross member ,, why did you not replace it ?? it is the 1 that goes bad ( brakes, collapses ) the most..

I agree with Hondtech info on centering the engine ,,

Default RE: Motor mounts

Thanks guys I really appreciate it.
The seller(my sister)said she had one of the motor mounts replaced last year and she thinks it was that back one. She said they told her the other motor mountsneeded to be replaced soon and that's been my project. I've been trying to get the nut off the back one to see if it was the one that was replacedbut the nut doesn't want to break free.I've been spraying itwith PB Blaster. If I break the nut off does it matter? Isn't it part of the motor mount?
