motor mounts or tranny?
OK, I have a 93 accord se and have a question. I noticed the car would shift pretty hard when i put it in reverse and drive but only at low speeds. more spirited driving yielded smoother shifting leading me to think motor mount. The front motor mount was bad so i replaced it. Now, driving forward is much improved at all speeds especially lower. Reverse is smooth also as long as i shift into park first. If I go straight from D to R to back up after moving forward the car slams in R pretty hard, worse then it used to. How can i determine if the rear mount is bad? Or, does this sound like a diff issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
put a floor jack under the engine , raise it a bit and watch the rear mount see if it is split,, also watch for sign of yellowish fluid on back of tranny , another sign that mount is split and fluid has leaked out,,
also make sure that it is getting vacc at the diaphram at idle speed below 700 rpm and 1 final thing make sure idle is not too high , normal idle should be around 700-750 rpm ( engine at normal temp ) warmad up ..
