Is it my tranny?
trans should not hunt gears on level surface....just out of curiousity is your t-stat working properly? The ECU will not allow torque converter to engage if it see engine is not up to proper operating temp. now that it is cooler outside it may be just enough to cause the ECU to think the car has not warmed up.
The car can be at operating temp one min and not at operating temp the next if the coolant temp drops enough due to t-stat stuck open.......
This happened to me with my '94 accord
on V6, car should accellerate without the torque converter unlocking until you give it more than 25% throttle or so
usually tq converter does not fail on these cars it is usually differential bearings or 2nd gear dies

She'll get up and go with no problem even if I'm going up a hill. The problem I'm having is being in overdrive and feeling a little hesitation (jerking) and especially when tying to pull a hill. If I give it just enough gas to drop the gear, she does fine up the hill and then goes back into overdrive when the road levels back out. Sometimes I can feel when it shifts into overdrive (even on level road) and it feels the same way as when trying to pull a hill just not as bad or as long. It will keep on with the "jerking" feeling going up a hill until I make it change gears which I usually do immediately because I'm worried about doing more damage. I've went to two dealerships and they tell me nothing is wrong with the transmission. One tech told me that the car is not producing a code therefore nothing is wrong, that these cars are so smart and detect everything.
How often should I be doing a transmission service and which one(s)? Thanks everyone!!

so the car is NOT hunting gears on level surface, rather chugging at low rpm in overdrive? fine when it downshifts?
I think you guys are misinterpreting what is being explained. although i may be wrong, i have been before...

The rpms are usually around 2000 and I'm usually going around 60 mph when it does it going up a hill which is mainly when it happens. The service manager at one of the dealerships told me "that is the way hondas drive, get another car if you don't like it." Yeah, I had some problems with him but I can't imagine him being right. I keep telling myself maybe he is right and I should just ignore it, give it some gas and go on. My car before the accord was a 97 Eagle Talon 4 cyl, 5 speed so I thought maybe it was just the difference of driving an auto with a V6 and a standard with a 4 cyl.

going up hill the car will try to hold 4th gear as long as possible. when the grade become steep enough or you are pressing down on the throttle far enough the TQ converter will unlock in order to maintain 4th gear.
Trans may be showing symptoms of failure as it is no longer as smooth as it should be.
