Are the tensioners new?

You can run the engine without the alt, ac belts to rule out noise from the alt, ps or ac bearings

I know everything has at least 1,500 miles on it, because I've had it that long. I just know I did searches and a tight belt causes a supercharged sound. A guy posted a few ago on here and said an improperly installed pulley will. This all being in the TB area. I removed the external belts and pull cover back and can see the cam pulley. I see a little oil but nothing on the belt or cam pulley. The noise is loud with the cover off.

Was the noise there before.....

Edit: should have read your first post better.

Have you replaced anything yet? I like the "kits" from gates, you get both belts and tensioners and IMO gates is a trusted brand. From there the oil pump oring, cam, crank seals....some will only replaced if leaking. Also, once you "strip it down", you are like six bolts from changing the water pump...hate to do all of this and not replace while there....especially since you have only had the car for ~1,500 miles. New valve cover gasket and plugs....should be good to go.

One question: When I removed the belt and pulley and don't mess with the engines rotation then I shouldn't have to time anything?

I'll be pulling it apart here about 2 hours from this post. Hope it goes good and whatever appears old I'll replace and I'll do the waterpump for sure. The valve cover gasket will be replaced too.

If all you do is remove accessory belt, remove crankshaft pulley, remove timing belt cover, and reinstall crankshaft pulley, then timing will not be affected.

If Timing Belt (TB) is removed, align everything to TDC before removing belt, check alignments, remove belt to replace, and upon reinstallation check alignments again before rotating the engine, and performing a final timing alignment check.

good luck

Well, my buddy drove 75 miles to help me. Glad I didn't buy $80 in parts I'd have to take back. Here's the noise in the pic! The TB and idler pulley both look brand new.
