Default need timing help f22b2

ok im working on a 95 dx accord and when my friend bought it from the po it was missing the lower timing cover. i picked one up from the junkyard and set everything back together. i took it in and it failed cause the evap can purge was broken and cause they couldnt see the timing marks. i pulled the hb off and the marks were to the right of the keyway hinting it was a pre 93 pulley? so i went to the local junkyard and picked up the correct pulley. i set it on started it up and set the timing light on it. i can only see the marks with the advance to about 25 on the gun. before i did anything i noticed the dizzy was cranked one way. when i set it the other way it pinged bad. i moved the belt one tooth back on top and started it and in both directions no ping but the marks still dont line up. what could be wrong ?

Are you jumping the service connector while doing this. The marks can be hard to see, you might have to hit them with a dab of paint/nail polish/ect to make them easier to see. Be sure you are on #1 spark plug wire, closest to the "belt end" of the engine.
