Default New member...93 accord power issue

I have a 93 accord that I have had for quite a while. Has about 305,000 and has taken me from A to B any day of the week. Lately here it seems that my car is lacking the power it used to produce. I have a off brand cone air filter on it and I think over time it has built up some debris and dirt in my intake manifold which is why it is getting not nearly as good gas mileage as it used to. I've tried just spraying some intake cleaner in the manifold and around the throttle body housing but so far no luck. I'm debating whether to take off the manifold and clean it up to see if that would help but I'm not completely sure if that is the best option.

There is no check engine light on. The car did die within the last month at a stop light but it started right back up. I'd appreciate any suggestions thrown my way.
Thanks a lot!
Jonathan

I'd start with the basic items. Tune up, unless this has been recently done. Good tb cleaning -both sides of the butteryfly, ect.

Have the egr ports been cleaned, pulling the intake is one way of getting to it but the "caps" can be pulled with the intake still on the car.

I looked up what you said about the "caps" and that might be the best fix. But, is this only valid towards accord models that are 1994 and up? I haven't got a chance to check to see if I have them yet but I'll be checking it out here shortly.

Your f22A engine has six of those egr plugs. honda dealers usually stock em. Like 4 bucks. Be sure to go down deep in the farthest back ones ( 3 )

It looks like the only way from what I've seen is to drill down and use a hammer drill to pull them out. Is that about the only option I have?

1/8th drill bit. then slide hammer with machine screw attached to it. Your drill bit will go down about 6mm ( 1/3 inch ) to get through em. There is a video clip of someone doing this procedure in the DIY section. Happy drilling

Well...finally got my power restored and my gas mileage back to normal on my 93 accord after cleaning out the EGR ports. I was heading to work this morning on the highway and my car shuts off going about 60. I was dreading the thought but the only thing I can come up with is my timing belt. Any thoughts on this one cause I really would hate to scrap because of the damage that may have been caused. How would you know if the belt would break for sure?

Any thoughts or suggestions :")?

Remove the distributor cap. Use a deep 19mm socket on the harmonic balancer bolt behind the driver's wheel. Turn the bolt counterclockwise when looking at the engine from the drivers tire. See if the distributor rotor moves when you turn the engine.
