Default Oil leak

My new used 97 Accord, 2.2 liter appears to have an oil leak. Unable to pinpoint exactly but it appears to be coming from the area near the belts/timing belt cover.

Will degrease engine and look closer. Was wondering if anything in that area is common with leaking oil and what it takes to fix.

Thanks and TGIF!

Default RE: Oil leak

Clean the engine thoroughly to pinpoint locate the leak(s). Most likely sources are the valve cover, distributor shaft o-ring, oil sending unit, oil pan gasket, oil pan bolt gasket, and/or the timing/balance shaft seals.

If the leak is coming from the timing belt cover, then the seals inside are the likely culprit. Unless the timing belt is soaked in oil, I would wait to change these seals until you have to change the timing belt.
