I did install a new front balance shaft seal retainer though. the oil filter shows no sign of leaking either. where is the oil pressure sending unit?

The oil pressure sending unit is above the oil filter on the firewall side of the engine. On my 95 it was way above the oil filter and had a one wire connector going to it with a rubber boot around the connection that was very brittle and filled with oil due to age.
