Oil Overfill
Not even the, Jethead. It would take a lot of extra oil for the crank to dip into the oil...just guessing at least 2 or 3 quarts. Crank counterweights/journals create a "wind" at high RPM. This wind can create a vortex of oil, suspending the oil above the oil pump pickup and/or aerating the oil, starving the pump. Hence the windage tray. So at startup/low RPM there couldn't be a problem. I think everybody's right: 1/2 quart extra is no cause for concern.
No, oil won't froth that quickly. The only way to cause oil aeration (frothing) of the oil is for the upper level of the oil sitting in the sump to be continuously subjected to the crank throws beating the oil like an egg beater does to whipping cream. As for what is up in the engine vis-à-vis the maxiumum level of oil before contact with the crank begins; that is all accounted for by the engineers at Honda. The fact is, when your engine is not running and the oil has all drained down into the sump, the bottom throws of the crank typically do sit in the oil (assuming the oil level is "full"); as soon as the engine starts, the level in the sump drops just enough to prevent any splashing.
Lol if what you guys are saying is true why even have a max level ? We should all just put about 8 quarts in. No big deal at all. lol ok
Let me iterate that I would rather error on the side of caution than not. It would be hard to tell how much over he filled his car.

I've only overfilled one time about the same amount around half a quart to 3 quarters of a quart, with my toyota camry and my car ran like ****. When I removed some via the oil filter, it ran normal again. I think it was pressurizing into the breather holes and going through the intake.
