So, I was driving to work the other night, I heard a loud bang. I thought I hit something because I could feel it. shortly after got the oil symbol and check engine light. I stoped but it was too late. The oil reservoir appears to have exploded.(all oil drained) I only say this because Its the only damage visible ,and the reservoir is higher in the car then other parts. Does this happen? and why.
I feel it has something to do with neglect on changing the oil etc. .

 

Can you post a picture of the oil reservoir? I am trying to figure out what reservoir you're referring to.

 

Its wherr you drain the oil, I'm not sure its at mechanic

 

Oh, the oil pan. You may have hit some road debris, that happens. The mechanic should be able to tell you if that was the case.
