Default Overheating issue.

1999 honda accord 2.3. Had one motor in, itd boil over into the overflow bottle but the temp gauge inside didnt say it was overheating. Finally it blew the head gasket, drained the coolant and finally registered that its overheating. Just threw another motor in it with the same results. Its almost like its not circulating coolant, but all hoses are hot and the heats kicking. Any ideas what it could be?

Hopefully you replaced the timing belt and water pump on the new motor.

I'd suggest getting the loaner tool from the parts store where you can pressure test the radiator/cooling system. The radiator cap should have a number like 1.1 atmosphere (around 16 psi). Your radiator should be able to hold that pressure.

Also test the radiator cap to see if it can hold pressure. I suspect the radiator cap is the issue. I'd probably get one from the Honda dealership if this was my vehicle.

Figured it out, the cap was bad, wasnt holding pressure. I appreciate it. Thank you.
