Default Potentially buying a 99 V6 auto.

Back after a long time!...

What are the things to look out for on this vehicle. I hear a lot about tranny issues, it has 177,000 on it, a little high for my liking but wow does that engine sound nice, smooth power, never had a V6 in a car of mine before...should I hold out for an MT?

getting close to second timing belt service i guess....does anyone put Amsoil ATF in these trannies??

many thanks!

I personally would not buy it, just too many issues with the transmission. Yes I'm sure there are tons of people that have them and haven't had to replace them but there are just too many people that have.

The V6 was never offered in manual. Look into Acura CLs if that is what you want.

Thank you for the Acura suggestion.

What is the transmission that is in the '99 Accord?..and how can I find out what Hondas and Acuras have it, so that I can avoid it?....my 5k budget puts me right into that era and im not liking the thought of an MT for south Florida city driving.

Are there any known good auto trannys in this era of Honda/Acura??

many thanks!

The 98-02 v6 automatics are the terrible ones. The 4 cylinders were a tad better but i would still avoid them. The 03s I hear still had a few issues but 04-06 are good to go. Other than that 94-97 are bulletproof.

The CLs are pretty much Accords with a few more options and different lights.
