Default Puzzled honda accord owner (2000)

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum so i dont know if it's the right place to post this? I own a 2000 honda accord coupe and the strangest thing happened the other day. It was nighttime. I parked the car and as i was turning my headlights off, they started flashing like it was an alarm that came on. My headlights kept flashing on and off ,without making any sound. I waited a few minutes and they stopped blinking. I tried starting the car, it would not. Even since then, the car never wants to start again. Did i trigger something by mistake? can anybody help me figure out what this is please? I'm puzzled i dont even know where to start as far as resolving this problem because because the engine won't fire at all...Help Please....i am desperate....

I'm going to move this to Gen Tech for a better answer.

Do you have a extra key? Try starting it with that.

If not, I would start with the battery and battery connections.

If it turns out to be a dead battery, the actual cause may be due to the alternator (where the alternator failed and was also not charging the battery).

Is this a V6 or 4 cylinder? Many of the V6 in your year came with Delphi alternators, which were not very good. However, whether your car is V6 or 4 cylinder, the alternator could still fail.

The battery and alternator can be tested, so don't just have something replaced without checking.
