Question about gear oil

Pretty much all of the above seems right to me. 'Tis easy for a prior owner to forget MT fluid changes.
I bought a '93 Accord from Phoenix whose 5spd had been regularly serviced with Pennzoil 10w-30 motor oil
(I called the garage to check!) and it shifted great at 185,000.

The funny thing about MT fluid changes is I've never seen a failed manual transmission in less than 200,000 miles, even when the fluid was still the original factory fill.
