Question about halfshaft?

Question about halfshaft?
On the drivers side halfshaft there was what looked like a rubber bump stop. Is this a bump stop or a weight? My new halfshaft does not have one and im getting a vibration around 3000 RPM. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

RE: Question about halfshaft?
Yes that rubber part on the old shaft was on there to help 'balance' the long shaft.
The problem is you have to remove the shaft and take apart the inner joint, to slide it back on the shaft and then reclamp it in place.
I would be more inclined to believe it would cause a vibration at higher speeds as opposed to RPM though?
OEM parts only hurt once.

RE: Question about halfshaft?
I have had to replace quite a few axles with non honda ,, that did not have that part ( DAMPER WEIGHT ) installed and never have had a shaking problem, As a matter of facts in some occasion the rubber piece has broken off ,and thedamper slides off on the axle creating a noise. i had to totally cut them off and remove them .. again,, no shaking afterward ..
if shaking started after the axle replacement you might want to warranty the shaft and try a different one ,
,OR get 1 ( damper weight ) from the dealer and install it,it costs about 25-30 dollars
