Default quick auto trans.cu. question

I have determined that the problem i am having with my auto. 95 vtec is due to bad parts within the automatic control unit. I've ruled out the solenoids i. the trans. they all work the car shifts normally from 1st to 4th on d4 and up to 3 on d3. it is sluggish at take off on top of burning water. its quite a mess ill admit as there are other lingering issues.

Anyways there is a 95-97 civic next door that the nighbor is going to junk. it is also an automatic and is dead due to engine issues.

Will an automatic control unit from a civic fit and work on an accord of the same generation? thanks in advance.

Short answer, no.

Long answer, no and the following:
The years you've listed for the Civics are different generations. 95 Honda Civic is 5th generation. 96-97 Honda Civic are 6th generation. There are also different engine Civics.

Both generation Civics with automatics (with exception of CVT) do not show a separate transmission control unit. Only 96-97 with CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) had a separate (TCM) Transmission Control Module.

Your 95 Accord had both an ECM (Engine Control Module) and a TCM; but, not compatible with any of the Civics.

Gentlemen, you have saved me from wasting time on an otherwise useless task and I thank you both very much.

I figured that since the engines and trannys looked so similar between both models this might work. i have been trying to scrap the neighbors civic for parts to use on my accord and so far absolutely nothing has worked. Its a bit of a disappointment for both of us. i get no major discounts and he gets no extra cash.

there are parts i saw that can be compatible but none i will be needing shortly.. hopefully.

Thanks again for the help.

Maybe there's hope at our sister-forum??

Put stuff out on the "for-sale-classified" section. But first, read the posting rules for selling items. Probably they're pretty similar to the for-sale-forum rules on our site.
