In that case, I'm thinking that maybe I can remove the stock resonator and install a new aftermarket one. But since an aftermarket one isn't tuned to my vehicle, would its performance exceed that of a worn out stock resonator?

I replaced muffler and pipe (converter rearward) w/ Walker QuietFlow and could not tell difference from OEM muffler. It's been several years but check my posts for something on "walker" or check current prices on amazon.

good luck
