Problems with honda accord 1990
My second honda accord which my wife is using is having problems of engine oil reduction(oil short), every 2 weeks i have to top it with one litre of engine oil. This has been happening since i replaced the automatic transmission, the original has severely gone bad to the extent that it makes horrible noise all about when driving, the mechanic must have touched one or two thing within the engine. The other problems is that when i switch off the car, that is when the key is in 'o'(zero position) or when i removed the key from the ignition the car will still be revving and then finally stopped with thumping sound and then the car vibrates. Sir, what is the appropriate rpm when the gear is in neutral position?. Please kindly assist on the probable solution to this problems i am having. Honda Accord 1990 model, Dx, auto trans., milleage 269,0000. THANKS TO YOU ALL

Oil loss is either a leak or oil consumption (burned oil).
Look for leaks under car by placing cardboard under car and watching for oil spots. Follow oil drips to locate leak.
Oil consumption may be normal due to engine wear, overheating, loss of oil pressure, etc. Oil consumption can also result from blocked PCV valve or PCV hose. Check PCV system. Not much can be done to reduce oil burning due to wear of engine; rebuild or replace engine.
Engine not stopping when keyswitch turned to OFF position is likely a faulty electrical keyswitch assy. See youtube for videos on this subject. Basically same in all Accords of 90's.
good luck
