Default RE: Any Help on Radiator Repair?

Hi, Guys! I found some coolant leaking out from the connection area of the core fins and the top plastic pipe on which the radiator cap sits. I touched the lower lip of the connection edge, and there was trace of coolant along quite a length (about a foot) spreading from the radiator cap point. I have read the thread in DIY section about changing the whole radiator, and the thing I am concerned about in changing the radiator is that it seems that I will be stuck half way there when disconnecting the hose to the auto tranny(I failed once when i was flushing the cooling system andtried to drain the liquid more completely)

Anyone has any clue about if there is a gasket or sealing material between the connection of the core fins body and the pipe (It looks from outside there are quite a few little teeth from the core fins body that were bent to hold the pipe in place) so that I can replace, or is there any quick adhesive that can be applied to seal the leaking cause I suspect the little teeth will be torn apart from the body when I open them. Anyway Iam trying to keepmy work minimizedsince it is a 95' 4d LX, auto with 100k on it, all the parts are so old, and I am worried if all the rusty parts will go back to their original place after I remove them from the place.

Appreciate any help in advance!

you can use some "J-B weld" for repairing leaking radiator. I used a kind of similar stuff, which don't need to be mixed, to repair my radiator and it has been working for a couple of months by far without any problem. I forgot the name of it. I bought it from walmart, black, some kind name of "cold weld" or "cold iron".

If you plan to keep it thenreplace it, don't try to repair it.

The plastic/aluminum radiators are generally a throw away item.
