Default Rear brake stuff question

My buddy has a 92 civic with calipers on both his front and rear brakes. I noticed I have them only on the front, and the other kind of brakes on the back. What is the difference? And would it be better to upgrade the rear brakes to the caliper? Is the performance worth the cost?

I searched around and didn't find anything that quite answered my question.

Thanks =)

Your rears are drum. They tend to lock up quicker than the discs on the front. Not worth worrying about.

I don't think the upgrade is worth the cost either. Unless you are doing it yourself and would enjoy the project. If you want better brakes, I would upgrade the front discswith bigger, cross drilledrotors.
