Was the car running well before you replaced the distributor? Or was this problem there before the new dist?

How do the wires look? Heat can cause resistance to build and cause issues. This is true for the coil as well.

After re-reading your OP it sounds like you are having fuel issues. If you hit the gas and it bogs it could be an issue with your Fuel Pressure Regulator not opening and closing quickly enough.

At idle when the car is cold and has just been started remove the vacuum hose from the FPR and see if the car starts to stumble. Have you tried running a good fuel injector cleaner recently? (something with acetone in it, Lucas Fuel Cleaner is a upper cylinder lubricant and has very little in the way of actual cleaning properties)

PAHonda,

The car starting running rough and then the next day it died on me. So no the car was not running well before replacing the distributor. The car wouldnt start at all until I replaced the distributor assembly.

Silver,

The wires look ok too me. I replaced them last summer. What should I be looking for?? Anyway to test the coil to see if it is getting to hot?? I really dont want to just buy a new coil and HOPE that it fixes the problem?? I have not ran any fuel injector through the car. I will remove vacuum hose tonight and see what happens.

Thanks guys.

94accord,

You can always return the coil if you put it in and it doesn't fix anything. Its either insuffucient spark or over or under pressured fuel rail. If nothing new after the vacuum test you might want to consider testing your fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge to make sure that you are within spec. If the FPR is going bad you will see your rail pressure go higher than spec which can cause a rich mixture.

Do you notice any black smoke or a uber gassy smell coming out of the tail pipe when its chugging like this?

Ok here is where Im at:

1.) Tried new coil and have same issue.

2.) The Check engine Light also came on. When jumped, it shows 4 two second flashes and then 1 one second flash???

3.) I removed the vacuum hose from the FPR right after starting up the car and no stumble. It seemed to idle slightly higher with the vacuum hose off the FPR?? Would this be normal since there is more airflow into the intake??

4.) Last, at NOT and the vacuum hose off the FPR the car idles around 600rpms. If I rev up the engine to about 3000 and let off the gas the rpm's will then drop back to 600. Once I reconnect the vacuum hose the rpms drop to 500. When I rev up the engine and let off the gas it will drop to 100 rpm's but never stall??? It will then slowly get back to about 300 rpm's but that is it. Im not really sure what this tells me??

check your fuel pressure. it sounds fuel related.

Code 41.....humm. O2 heater

Also, please humor me and check the timing.....it takes a timing light and ~35 minutes....and most of that time, 20~30, is waiting for the car to be a normal op temp.

Appears that it was out of time. Apparently I didnt put the distributor assembly back on exactly the same way it came off cause I had to advance the distributor and now she seems to be running like a champ. Thanks for all the help.

Be sure to follow the proper procedure when checking it.
Glad to hear you got it going

I would check into the O2 code you have and resolve that.
