Just me but it looks like there is the "end" of a 3/8 extention in the bolt....with rust so it has been there for some time?

 

Lets see how this goes.....use your vise grips to grab this piece and try to pull it out of the drain bolt.

The drain bolt should have a square "hole" in it.....so again it looks like someone broke off the end of a 3/8 drive tool in the bolt/plug.

 

This is how the bolt looks after I finished fiddling with it. My 3/8 tool didn't break off into it or anything. When I shoved my rachet in the plug it became more deformed than it was originally, which is what the pictures show.

 

We are missing each other....that drain bolt should have a "hole" in it - inward. The "hole" is 3/8 square......let me look around for a picture of the drain bolt and it will help.

There is "someones" opps in the pic you have posted....please put the vise grips on that piece sticking out and "pull it out".

 

Did you use anything like PB Blaster at any time? Looks like crappy bolt and/or definitely over-tightened by SCAAMCO.

 

You're right, poorman. It looks like something broke off and is still in there. They musta hit it too hard with the air ratchet, it twisted off, then maybe when they couldn't get it out they just cut off as much as they could with similar overkill. Yeah....an alignment shop stripped one of my wheel lugs recently (AND DIDN'T TELL ME!). Had to pay another shop 50 bucks to replace the lug I had to buy from dealer. People......

 

Again...try to grab the piece with vise grips and see it you can pull it out of the drain bolt.

If you can...it looks a bit "stuck" so I hope it comes out . There should be a 3/8 square hole in the drain bolt........stick your 3/8 ratchet right into the hole and "see" if you can get the bolt out......hoping for you.

If you don't have a new bolt and washer.....at least see if you can get it to move. If so, "snug" it back up until you have a new new drain bolt and washer.
