Default slaming and banging in 2nd gear in accord 98

my accord bangs in 2nd gear on accelerating. While the rpm revs high say 3000. There is no problem with other gears. Does continueing banging has effect on the engine? Could bad PGM- FI be causing this banging in 2nd gear. I have change the automatic transmission fluid. Problems still persist. Is a 4cyl accord. Please help. I need your response. Thanks

Not sounding good.

You can check for any stored codes?

Has the fluid been changed in the trans?

In addition to checking the codes, the D4 light on your cluster will flash too when the computer detects a major problem with the transmission. Most transmission P codes are in the 700 range (P0700-P0799) and still turn on the MIL light. If the MIL light is not on, still have the codes checked anyways to see if there are any pending codes stored.

I know the V6 transmissions around the year 2000 had some major issues with clogging filters and valve bodies with clutch material and would do the exact same thing. In your case with the 4 cylinder trans, I'm not sure if they also suffered from the same problems. But regularly changing the fluid at the recommended 30,000 mile intervals will flush out the old fluid that's filled with clutch material instead of it floating around inside and getting into places it's not suppose to be.

D4 light is not blinking, but check engine light is on. I have changed the transmission fluids is still banging. I notice if i placed the shift lever in 2 only it will just banged. I believe the problems is comin from the 2nd gear. please tell me it won't have any demaging effect on the engine on continue usage. I will scan for codes. Please your advice is needed thanks

Get the codes and lets see what we have.

Not trying add to the worries.......but if your 98 Auto is like the 98-02 Auto's sold in the US/Canada, well they are kind of known for not being that well built.
