Default Starter 2002 4 cylinder

There's 2 bolts that mount the starter as you know. In the middle of the pic you'll see quite a long bolt (arrow pointed down). I can't get it completely out because of (what I think is but may not be) the motor mount.

Question:
Is this the motor mount?
Is this preventing me from taking the starter off? Tried loosening the starter but it doesn't want to budge. And I don't want to put too much pressure on it unless I break the car and myself! Thanks for the advice.

See attached procedure which says nothing about motor mount.

It appears from the sketch that bolt should be removed from the bell housing and flange and should allow starter removal even w/ bolt in starter housing.

Any chance this bolt is not the starter retaining bolt?

Suggest bumping starter firmly w/ rubber or steel hammer.

good luck

Default Thank you

You were right. It was not the starter bolt. But now I have run into another problem.

I put a new (refurbished) starter, connected everything tight and now it won't start. It did once but then wouldn't anymore.

Had the battery tested at Auto Zone and they said it was good.

It used to click when turning the key, but now it no longer clicks. Just goes dead.

I can still turn on the radio though after a minute or 2. Not sure what to do.

Thanks for your help.

You should check for 12v start signal to the solenoid (small blk/wht wire) when keyswitch turned to Start position. If missing, then start switch, ignition cut relay, or wiring fault must be found.

good luck
