I need to fix my steering rack asap it is still original and the car has over 350k. My question is should I buy one from a junk yard and rebuild it? Take mine off and rebuild it? Or just buy a new one? The new ones are about $400-500 so thats why Im hesitant.

 

It's a pretty big job to remove/install the PS rack. You want to be sure the installed product has high probability of working correctly. Suggest you go for a rebuilt from quality supplier, but compare OEM prices also. Occasionally some parts are fairly reasonable prices.
