Default Steering stiffens after engine heats up.

I have a 1998 model of honda accord and after sometime of driving my power steering stiffens. I have changed the power steering fluid pump yet the problem persists. Kindly assist.

Are you getting any "foaming" the ps res?

Also, are you using Honda/Acura approved ps fluid.

Thank you poorman212 for your response.
Yes i get foaming on the reservoir, especially when the engine is heated up.
About the fluid, I do not know the type my mechanic used.
Could the fluid type cause the foaming?

The foaming would be where I would be concerned......usually that means "air" is getting into the system....btw air will compress,,,,just like air in the brake system,,,,doesn't work.

So I would start by checking for a bad o-ring on the connections, hoses or a loose return hose first.....can't remeber if the 6th gen's had the "filter" in the bottom of the PS res.....seen those get dirty and cause sim issues.

EDIT: the fluid is not "so much" a concern based upon the feedback.
