Default strange idle and smoke..

So after a fresh th and wp and rollers, she starts find. but now after first pressing the gas, she starts hunting and surging from 1.5 to 2.5 and back over and over, smells sweet, smokes white out the back, and when you shut it off sounds like you can hear dripping into the exhaust pipes. help? Blown.head gasket? What about the idling though? 91 lx

I dont know what a fresh th and wp and rollers is supposed to mean but is the check engine lite on? and the white smoke you see coming from the exhaust is oil being burned in combustion chamber("pistons")either a bad head gasket or bad rings?
If your running a 2.2 compression should be 178 psi standard and 135 psi minimum.

Oh ok i just realized your 1st.thread!
After you put the timing belt did you adjust your valves???its a must after replacing timing belt.
If it didnt run like this before you did the timing belt then i believe your timing is off, meaning timing marks?
All the marks must line up?sounds to me the timing moved on you while you were putting the belt on? you need to check the timing

Cool

Okay ill look for info on the valve adjustment unless someone wants to gimme a link.. and sorry for the mis type. on an android.

I think my timings okay. I actually tore it all back down cause I noticed I was a tooth off, and corrected it before any of this. I read about the idle valve up on the manifold, about to check it. and about to do compression.

Why were you replacing the belt....because it was due or because it broke?
