Default sunroof wont work.....

I have a 2000/X accord with electric sunroof

it tilts up okay but it wont slide backwards. it goes back about a quarter of the way and then a metal bar thing at the front seems to flip up then it stops/jams.

any ideas how i can fix this?

many thanks

That metal bar at the front; is that the air deflector that rises up into the air stream? That's probably not the cause of the hangup, but you can try holding it down with your hand (from outside) while someone presses the sunroof control button.

Worst case, you might have to remove the glass panel in order to have a better look back into the pocket where the glass is supposed to go.

well... bad news i tear down all the interiors to finally reach the motor of the sunroof, still need to check because I didn't found the root cause.

the motor always receive 12V no matter which button I press on the sunroof switch.

I need to be sure that the motor is Ok, then move to the swithes inside the car, ones conected next to the motor on the roof, which seems to be something strange but working ok, so next step will be locate a relay that sends the 12 volts and see why is not sendind -12V to retract the motor.. God, i dont event know if this relay exist

well I will post any findings, and will try to post some pics.

good news, I finally found the problem, well what seems to be the problem.

Under the dash, behind the fuse box there are some relays, for the sunroof we have 2 gray 12V 1T MITSUBA RC-5105 relay, they control the voltage send to the sunroof motor. It seems that one fo these is defective, I change one with the other and then the sunroof activates different parts of the circuit, ones that were dead. Any ways, I still need to buy a replacment to confirm, but I'm pretty sure that's the problem.

attach is a picture of the little demon.

Talking Hi Guys

Here is a picture of what i found on the net..see if you have a relay that looks like this one instead of the one you put your picture in.

This is at AutoZone $40.99...the stock # is RC 5105 Grey Mitsuba Brand also.
Let us know if this one is found..

WheelBrokerAng,
Do you mean that the one you found should be the one for the Sunroof?
if that is what you meant, let me tell you that I have made tests on those relays I said on my post, the picture I post is the actual picture of my defective relay.

Please correct me if I'm confuse. (english is not my natural language)

a note:
the picture you post looks lika relay for a 5th gen accord, I found one when searching on a local car yard, mi Accord is a 6th gen i though they should be the same but i guess is not.

I think the relay part number stamped on there is RC5102 and not RC5105. Autzone sometimes uses generic pictures for their parts.

You can pick one up at a junkyard for pretty cheap. The dealership listed price is around $21 for a new one.
