Default Surging idle after rebuild. P2279

Lost timing due to worn tensioner , bent the valves. After rebuilding we've gotten the intake leak and higher then expected idle codes. We checked the PVC hose power booster hose and intake gasket all seem to be in good shape. We've done the manual idle relearn procedure oonce. We've also sprayed ethier to find a leak with no results. The mech seems to think its the mas or iat. He's ordering the mas today but meanwhile I'm going to clean the throttle it's showing to be at 10.6% when they said it should be at 4-6%. Im getting help by a machine shop owner thats not real familiar with Hondas. The cams are timed correctly also I'm looking to find out if we're heading in the right dir and or do I need to have it put on a Honda specific computer for the idle relearn Thanks for your help. J

Well, wish I knew the answer, says "intake leak". Gaskets are good, vac hoses are all good, intake duct is sealed....I'm really intersted in what you find.

Try a compression test.

Looks like it may have been the map and or coolant temp sensor. After replacing the map it the surging reduced from 1000-1800 to 800-1100 so that helped and the coolant temp got it back to normal. I hope this helps someone.
