Default Tach reading high

I just replaced the instrument cluster in my 95 Accord LX with one I got from a junkyard. The old speedo and fuel gauge were not working.

Got the new one installed and everything works but now the tach is reading about 50% high. Could this be because it came out of a 4 cylinder car and I have a 6 cylinder? Is so, is there a fix for it? Maybe a hidden 4/6 cylinder switch?

Also, the speedo reads 60 when GPS has me at 55. That isn't a huge deal but I'd anybody knows how to adjust, it would be nice!

Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum, Planeguy

Possibly a generation set-up issue and/or wheel size difference (?)

Signal variations can be adjusted by a tech

Default Thanks

Just can't trust that younger generation, huh? I was hoping to avoid taking out to a shop. As it turns out, since the old tach still worked, I put that in and its all good except for a minor variation in the speedometer. I saw a pot on the board... Is that where the adjustment is?

You are basing your speed on a GPS. They, just like your car are not completely accurate. Your generation Accord has what I like to call a give me speed. Thus if you are going 55 on the speedometer you are actually going around 50 to 51 mph. Thus the give me is a give me a brake from a speeding ticket. That is just the way it is. I have owned, still own and work on Accords of your generation. They are all the same. I hope that helps soothe your mind.
