Default TCC erratic

Last night I was driving the car home and the TCC engaged normally at about 55 mph. Once I set cruise, the TCC started disengaging and reengaging repeatedly for no good reason. It did it about three or four times and then was fine after that. This morning it did it again, but only did it once this time. Any thoughts on what would cause this kind of behavior?

When you say TCC, do you mean the cruise control? Just want to make sure we are talking about the same thing, and not traction control.

When it engages/disengages, what is happening? Speed drops, then returns, or the cruise control light on the dash turning on/off?

Sorry, I should have specified. When I say TCC I'm referring to the torque converter clutch. The cruise control works fine, but the torque converter clutch will disengage for a few seconds then reengage. It did it several times and then it was fine. Did it once the next morning and after that was fine. There were no codes present when I checked last night.

Did you check for pending codes?

An electrical fault in the TCC solenoid would account for symptoms, however hydraulic faults are also possible that don't set a code. Code P1753 is for an electrical TCC solenoid fault.

good luck
