Default They told me I need a new Steering Rack?

Hi,
I bought a used 2006 Honda Accord Coupe 4 cyl about a year ago. I have about 69k mileage on it. I took it in for an oil change and they called me and told me that I need to replace my entire rack and pinion and some other stuff because its leaking. They gave me an estimate of over 1500 dollars. Has anyone else had any experience with this. Should I contact Honda? The mechanic told me that it is very surprising considering its a honda and it has relatively low mileage. Any information would be helpful thanks.

Ask them...
Where exactly is it leaking? Why can't they replace a hose or fitting or some other component to fix it?

Thanks, I will ask that. He did mention something about something getting filed down. I am going to get a second opinion. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. It seems out of ordinary.

Yes, get a 2nd opinion..his 1st one does not seem to even sound right..go to a suspension place or a place where they do wheel alignments and let them take a good look at it.

wow ,, seems like it is too new of a car for needing a p/s rack already,, I agree with the others,, get a second opinion and an estimate ,, go to a shop that specializes on Honda if all possible or the Honda dealer
