Timing Belt Replacement Question
#5
Very seldom do we ever replace anything other then the auto tensioner as they typically leak oil. The belt tensioner idler pulley rarely fails unless high mileage and typically never has to be replaced especially since this is the first belt job on it. The cam and crank seals should not have to be replaced, but your mechanic can check both the idler pulley and seals while they are in there. If going to an independent shop insist on all Honda parts.
And when I talk about the auto tensioner I am talking about the piston driven auto tensioner that puts pressure on the T-belt, and not the external one for the drive belt. Note that the external one seldom fails on the lower mileage vehicles of your generation.

Thank you both !
Thanks that is exactly the insight I was looking for. It didn't make sense when suggested that I do the seals. And I will have the tensioner checked, possibly just plan on replacing it. And lastly I agree nothing but Honda parts.
Have a great day gentlemen !
