tranny problem

Default tranny problem

hi i just bought a 1993 honda accord dx automatic sometimes when i put it in drive it has low power i have to shut of the engine start it back up that works sometimes but that sometimes dont work i have to disconect the battry for a while and then its fine again it actulaly shifts realy nice and smooth this happens about once a day usualy over night and after it warms up a bit any ideas what can be cousing this is my tranny going out? im also having another problem then engine light is always on and when i put on the turn signal the oil light flashes in instead of the blinker arrows would highly apreciate any advice thanks in advance

Problem may be poor electrical ground somewhere. This can cause all sorts of problems. Check all grounds under hood carefully for cleanliness and security. Check battery posts and battery connections.

Check for engine codes (see diy section for instructions) and get any engine and transmission codes.

ok ill check that out thank very much what about the oil light problem when i turn on the turn signals the oil light flashes instead of the arrows

Oil light problem could be related to loose grounds or a defective Integrated Control Unit (ICU). Both oil light and turn signal are contained in the ICU. Power for the flasher and the oil light are connected. Circuit diagrams are incomplete, so difficult to understand how your problem might arise.

First check underhood grounds carefully.

i checked for loose grounds i only found the ground from the battery and on the power stering pump they seemed fine is there more ground wires were are they located i couldent spot any more if its that icu you think thats whats cousing the tranny problem if it is is that hard to replace

i also tried reading engine light fault codes but when i turn igniton on the check engine light is not on only the battery light it only comes on when i start the car

Your post is confusing about when the check engine light turns on. Can you be more descriptive about what is going on? Did you short the service connector? When does the CEL turn on, etc...

yes i did short the service connector i a used a bent paper clip but when i put the ignition to on the check engine light dosent come on only when i start the car its on constantly is it ok to start the car while the service connector is shorted out
