Default Tranny Problem??

Hey guys, I am having a problem with my 98 accord v6. When i turn on the engine the green light around the D4 on the dash board flashes on and off continuously, now it doesnt matter what gear am in P R N D3, the green light around the D4 remains flashing, furthermore it feels as though i have no 1st or second gear, when i engage reverse or drive i feel a heavy jerk in the transmission and move off is always very sluggish as if its moving off in third, once i reach about 60 kmh the car is fine. any suggestions?? thanx in advance

That flashing D4 lamp is the tranny's version of a "check-engine" light. Go to Autozone or someplace like that to have them plug in a reader & read the error code numbers. Get the actual number (p1234 or whatever) because their verbal descriptions can get pretty creative.

Don't shoot the messenger here; those transmissions have a very high failure rate.
There was an extended warranty, but it isn't valid anymore.

Hmmmmmm, if you already got one under warranty, american honda MIGHT go 50/50 on replacing this one. Worth a try anyway.
You'll have to have the trans condemned by the local dealership, then call american honda and schmooze them. [I love my Honda, want to keep it forever....etc.]
Be sure to let everyone involved know that this is the second time around for the trans failure.
