my 92 accord lx is shifting hard when its warm/hot and not so bad when its cold. im going to get the transaxle overhauled. this will be the second time one being done by previous owner the car has 230,000 mi on it. What should i expect to pay to have it done. thx
The last one of those I went thru ran right about $1200 parts and labor.
There is no sense in jumping intothe transwith a preconceived idea of what is going to be replaced. That is just asking for a come back!!
All the clutches and steels should be replaced, then you overnight order in the clutch pak shims from the dealer to have the correct spacing. All soft parts should be replaced; then the fun begins, all the shift valves and bores need to be checked to be sure the valves move smoothly, that takes about 6-8 hours of removing the little keepers and working the valves back and forth while soaking them with trans fluid.
Salvage yard trans is an option also, but as old as they are you might not be any better off.
