transmission fluid flush/change for 5speed MT?
I just got 2001 Accord LX w/ 209,000 miles and was going to do some basic services (oil change, etc).
However, for the 5 speed transmission service, I was wondering if it's ok to go ahead and flush/change the fluid. The car has 209K on it now and I don't know when the previous owner serviced the transmission.
I have been told by others that by doing the flush on an Automatic Trans could mess the trans up, but I don't know about the 5MT & I wanted to ask others that have honda's and that have done this before. I was going to get it done at the local Honda dealer with the dealer fluid.
Thanks for the help.

You can change the MT fluid w/o concern. The concerns from the AT side don't come over to the 5 spd unit.
MT is a simple drain and fill - no filter. Look in manual for what the fluid spec is.
I've used 15W-40, Pennzoil Synchromesh and now Honda Manual Transmission Fluid in my older than your units. Latter 2 are better.
It's simple enough to do yourself, but since getting the car level to refill and then screw in the fill plug is difficult for me, I now go to a local oil drain place and sweet-talk the friendly guy into a low price if I bring the fluid.
