Default Weak Voltage | No Start | Help!

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all well.

I have a 2005 Honda Accord EX 3.0L. It was parked for a few months and when I got it road ready it began to display some issues:

- car would have issues starting
- turning on headlights would make engine rev.
- engine would lag a bit/lose power

It got so bad I ended up having to tow the car home.

So far, I have replaced, 1) alternator, 2) starter, 3) battery, 4) air intake OEM.

After I replaced the alternator it began having starting issues.

1) It wouldn’t turn over unless in cranked it twice.
voltage issues
2) while driving I’d notice the engine would rev when I turned on the head lights.
3) radio would turn off while driving and have issues playing music
4) it shut off while driving and was able to get it on again; although I got it back on all the dash gauges were faulty and the engine would speed up slow down and be quite laggy.

after I replaced the starter:

1) it turned on but once I turned on the AC the car died and will not come back on.
2) I see voltage coming into the vehicle because the lights are dim but every other electronic component does not function.

I have checked the fuses, no issues, a buddy of mine said it could be the ignition switch but I don’t have any issues turning the key in the current ignition switch.

If anyone has had this issue please help I need to get this car back on the road it is my DD.

Start with some basic measurements. Use a volt meter to measure the battery voltage with the engine not running. Turn on the headlights for a few seconds to see what the battery voltage reads.

Then start the car and let us know the voltage on the battery terminals.

It turned out to be a dud alternator, replaced it and about 10 fuses. It’s now up and running. Thanks for your assistance and input 💪🏽🙏🏽.

Unfortunately, I've see too many threads on here where a new part was bad out of the box that leads you down a rabbit hole.

I'm glad it was simple and thanks for posting the result.
