Default Weird AC Problem

Hi,
My ac with climate control stopped working on my 99 Accord this morning after 8 years. The compressor and cooling fan didn't engaged. Another weird problem is the blower fan refuse turn on unless the setting is set at maximum either in manual or in auto. I just want to get some suggestion on where to start.

Thanks for helping.

Lets JUST start, with the blower fan on HI, cause that is all that works, will the compressor and fans (underhood) come on then?

The compressor and fan under the hood do not come on when the blower fan is running at HI speed. I'm thinking the cuprid is the blower resistor. I have looked at the AC wiring and the blower provides the running feedback to the AC control moldule via the resistor circuit. May be the control module won't turn on the compressor/fan unless it confirmed that the blower is running.

I didnt look it up but with auto AC you may not have a resistor, it may be a solid state unit, and no matter what it has, the HI speed is wired direct to 12 volts so the resistor (or solid state unit) does not come into play and the compressor and all fans should work, so worse case you have two problems.

It should also be in the airflow stream just like the older resistor type so the airflow can keep it cool too, remember this is an automatice temp controller so it needs to sense the temp in the ducting, right after the blower motor I would say.

Problem solved... I replaced the blower transistor and the AC started working.

Thanks for helping.
