Default Windshield wiper removal

The wiper arms on my 97 wagon are down to bare metal. I would like to remove and paint them. Can't seem to get them to come up off the post. I removed the nut, but there is no where good to pry against. Any ideas to get these off to paint them?

Some WD-40, then shake and pull the arm at the same time?

And a little lift on the spring/actual wiper blade will help get the "bind" off the stud.

i had the same problem, basically just play with it until it comes off, the only thing holding it down is rust and gravity =)
