Default windshield wipers revisited

Hi:

I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX with 142,000 miles on it and much the same problem as desribed by other users. From what I can gather from everybody, the switch is bad.

Since I am not very handy, can somebody please let me know how to change the switch (step by step) or is this something I should turn over to a mechanic - if so, how much should that run.

Thanks in advance.

Default RE: windshield wipers revisited

Hi:

Essentially, the windshield wipers sometimes work, sometimes not (I have seen a few posts with the same issue). When you turn the wipers to the first level, nothing, second level nothing, then back to first level they might start working. When you push the lever down (where you have to hold it) they work.

Yesterday, could not get them to work. However, today they came on but only after "playing" with the **** a little bit to get them to work. Again, from some of the write ups, the best guess seems to be the switch - I checked the fuse and that is ok.

I am not that handy and if it is real simple to buy a switch and replace it, then it would be great. Otherwise, I am trying to get an idea of what this will set me back....

Thanks
