Default Power slipping in high rpms with intake

I have a 98 v6 accord and i just recently installed an AEM short air intake if i floor it, at random times it will suddenly lose all power for an instant and then regain it just as quickly when it gets into the high rpms (5-6). i just wanted to know if anyone else ever had the same problem or if anyone knew what the problem might be. other than the intake the car is completely stock. thanks

Sounds more like the tranny is going, seeing as it's a 98 AV6 being driven hard. Does it stumble or does the engine rev higher but the car goes nowhere?

This was the first thing to come to my mind but I didn't want to instill horror into him. I give it a 50/50 shot at the trans being the culprit as well.

You'd be bettor off selling yours and buying a manual trans car. Trans swap would be very expensive if you couldn't DIY (and not many people can.) IF you could even find a shop that would do it.
