Im new here...with big issues.
whats up everybody...
I am curious...how often do you hear about catastrophic engine failure with a Honda with less than 100k miles? Yeah, me either...but it just happened to me.
I bought my 1998 Accord (2.3L) in October of 2005 with 64,000 miles on it. I have meticulously maintained it (mobile one oil changes every 5k-7k miles, roughly twice as often as needed) and it never had any trouble. Then, it started making this awful clanking noise upfront. The garage had no idea and never suspected the engine until it was practically the only thing I hadn't replaced up there. Apparently the crank threw a bearing and they found "chunks of metal" in the oil pan. So, I had to buy a new engine yesterday. Honda said they weren't going to do a thing since they had not been performing the service for the last 9 years. Sorry, I didn't feel like paying a $70/hr labor rate for an oil change.

I would contact Honda ofAmerica b/c they can do chemical, and metallurgical tests to determine if it was indeed your fault that the engine failed. Sounds like a cop out by honda since you said you had it serviced somewhere. I'd find those receipts for whatever the services were and make a claim.

The car is almost ten years old ferchristsake!!!!!! And he bought it used!!!!! Why on earth would Honda evenly be remotely responsible for the engine taking a dive????? Get real folks.
I am sorry that it happened and agree that it shouldn't have. Trying to get Honda to do something is up there with the tooth fairy or monsters under the bed.
