Default What to do with Accord ?

I have a 1999 Accord EX, I4 2.3L F23A1, Auto trans. 235,000 miles. I got it for 2500 as my first car and it’s a ****box no doubt but it’s served me well. I’ve gotten a pretty much hunk of cash in my back pocket and im asking honestly is there’s any use in trying to mod/fix up my car or should I take that money and look for a newer car? Im pretty mechanically inclined (worked on other smaller engines and stuff but never a full 4 wheel sedan). I’m a little attached to Betty but if she’s only a few thousand miles away from a major problem then it’s not economical for me to pump money into her.

1999 is indeed quite an old car, safety is the primary consideration, I personally recommend replacing the new car, the old car can be maintained and collected, right?

I’ve been doing basic maintenance (brakes, struts, steering) but at the end of the day the person who had her before me simply didn’t take care of her. Almost every metal surface has at least 2-3 mm of rust and every day I find a new simple maintenance task that hasn’t been done since she rolled out the factory.

A better word to use wouldn’t be “new” car (too many computers and too expensive to risk tinkering with) but a better maintained old car, I’ve even been looking for better cared for low mileage 99’ Accords.
