Default 2001 Saab 93 One Headlight Out

First, Thanks to Jim.

2001 Saab 93 - drivers side high beam out.

So the wife tells me the drivers/left high beam headlight is out in the Saab. "Ok dear, I'll replace the bulb". Well replace the bulb and the light still won't work????

Ok, those that know me know I HATE ELECTRICAL. I first grab the cheap volt meter and take some tests. No power to the bulb on "high", ground is good.

Getting late so time for reading. Thanks to Jim and the stuff he "linked" me to when I first got the car.......the car is small, red ,a convertable and the wife likes it......means we are buying it.

Ten minutes of reading and I find out the "light control" relay is a known issue. Pull the relay, give it a few "love taps" with the plastic end of a screw driver. Put it back in.....bam, lights are woking now....Thank you Jim

Ha ha... My light control relay never went out, but I know that's a popular problem. Glad you got it fixed.

Thanks Jim.

So far all I did was give it a few "love taps" and got it working. If it happens again, I'll open it up and "touch up" the connections....~$90 for a new one is just a bit out of line in my opinion.

I should have known something was going on. A few months back she said one of the low beams was out. That is when I actually bought a new light bulb. Then when I to change it I turned on the lights, to see which one was out and they were all working

I really don't know if they are susceptible to the same kind of cold solder joints as Honda main relays??

Otherwise, maybe burnish the contacts of the relay. Unless you find it's a solid-state device that isn't a physical relay...

Goldwing in NY has a good reputation for used parts.

Since the "tapping" got it going again I have not opened it up.

Some of the comments I saw talked about touching up the relay, didn't follow those all the way so I'm not really sure if they were talking about the connections or the contacts.......I took the simple first try and it worked so I stopped there
